With the enormous magnitude of the population that India has, it is only natural that the country produces a huge amount of waste every day. The surge of economic development has left a lot of waste to be dealt with. The waste management system in India is a department of utmost importance and is usually based on the principles of preventive measures, sustainable development, and polluter pays. Laying down such principles mandate that the maintenance communities are environmentally accountable are responsible for restoring any balance which might have been tipped along the way. Managing the waste in the proper manner can not only help the aesthetic of the city but can also do a lot of good for the environment. For India to be a clean country, firstly, proper implementation of water sanitation and hygiene in India is mandatory. The country also needs to tackle its waste disposal problem head-on. From solid urban waste, sewage, chemical or industrial waste — the debris left behind by the throbbing cities are left behind, mismanaged and later becomes a colossal problem in the face of rapid urbanization which our country is witnessing.
